Monday Morning Meanderings

Wow. Your comments about my new hair style are amazing. Thank you! It wasn't a hard decision at all, I have been patiently waiting for the past year for my hair to be actually long enough to donate and I was thrilled to discover on Saturday that the time had come. And it was perfect timing because the weather around these parts finally turned very warm.

But as a breast cancer survivor (and as a result former wig wearer), it was a great sense of pride and accomplishment to actually have enough hair to donate for a very good cause. I haven't decided what organization to donate to yet, but rest assured my donation will be on it's way soon. This morning was a bit of a challenge however. I am all fumbles when it comes to trying to do anything with my hair, and it has been so long since I have actually had to style it that I just about threw the blow dryer across the room in sheer frustration.

Saturday, after posting I headed up to Villiage Yarn and Tea to meet up with my friend Ms Knitingale (who is sadly still on a blog hiatus). I was thrilled to find my friend Terri hanging out there as well. Even though we live really close to each other, we rarely have unencumbered time to just sit and chat.

Through the course of the afternoon, I was reminded once again about the strong sense of community that we knitters have. Whether it be through your local lys, Ravelry, the blogosphere or many other opportunities that I am sure that I would miss if I tried to list them all, knitters are a fantastic source of support and friendship. I met Ms. Knitingale there by design and Terri by chance (as well as a few other knitters) and was rewarded with a wonderful afternoon of knitting, tea and friendship that would be hard pressed to be better if we had tried planning it that way.

I've never been very good with the 'styling' stuff either, so I just don't... my hair is going to do whatever it wants anyway :^)

You're SO lucky!

Oh, my...I never knew that you went through such a difficult and painful time. I want to tell you how much I respect you and from "afar" care for you..I did this before I knew and I still do it. You are such a special person.
Your knitting astounds me and your gentle caring for your family is an inspiration. You take care.

That sounds like a great afternoon! That is really a nice little shop.
