Blanket in progress

I have been knitting socks for a long time. I rarely use all of a ball of yarn and now have accumulated quite the stash of odds and ends. Thanks to Midgeling, I finally decided what to do with some of them.

It's a knit a long of sorts, since she is making one for herself. Anyone else care to join?

When I get more sock yarn left overs I am SO gonna do this!!!

How many stitches do you cast on for your squares? using what size needle? US1 perhaps?
