Monday Morning Meanderings
sunday sun sparkles
bouncing light off dancing waves
fades toward monday
bicycling children
creating obstacle course
my hair turning grey
I'm pooped and I think that I need a weekend to recover from my weekend. Shannon had a friend over this weekend and the whole time was filled with 9/10 year old antics. Emma is most likely the reason why I still have Shannon after we left Fiona in charge while Dennis and I went on our date night. They rode bikes, did endless gymnastics, watched Monk, rode bikes some more, did lots more gymnastics. We took the three girls to breakfast on Sunday at the local community center and they did more gymnastics. Whew, makes me tired just thinking about it.
After discussing Midgeling's post on teenage pregnancy, I called Emma's mom to let her know what we had been up to. Amazingly to me, she let the weekend carry on.
Yesterday afternoon they convinced me to dust off my bicycle and go for a ride. Sunday in Seattle weather couldn't have been better, it wasn't rainy, it was just warm enough and like the bulbs popping out of my garden, people were out in droves. We rode to a local lake and Dennis picked them up at the other end, leaving me to ride home in a moment of sort of solitude. I must confess that I did lose it at one point with a couple of pedestrians who insisted on walking in the bike lane and preventing anyone to go around them. As I finally passed them, I commented that they might like to try the walking path, and bit my lip as the woman replied something to the effect: Well, there is a concept. Urgh.
So now it is Monday and back to work. It looks like the weather has turned to grey again. Perfect.

Sounds like a glorious weekend.
And as for those women, I think as a peoople, we need to put ourselves aside every once in a while and put others first. Makes you wonder if these people went to kindergarten and learned sharing and common courtesy.

Walking path? Duh. And teenage pregnancy is something I hope neither of us will have to face as parents. And if it is... well, we have each other to lean on.
