A bright spot appears..
We have been working hard with an architect all winter, trying to come up with plans to remodel our house. In the past few days it has become quite apparent that our plans and dreams are much more than the pocket book will bear.
I am quite sad. I was looking forward to making our home into a place that I love rather than just a place to live.. Yet before my hopes quite hit the bottom, I opened a package that was left on my door step to discover that my Moosie had arrived:

Yup. Moose antler whorl, tulip wood shaft. 1.2 oz. A Bosworth specialty spindle. Isn't she pretty? I can't wait to give it more than a test whirl.
eta, the weight of the spindle is 1.02 oz. Sorry, a bit of a confusion popped into the mix.

That's a bummer, but at least there was a little happiness on your doorstep! I"m sure there's more to follow!

What a great spindle! I'm sure it will be a pleasure to work with. :0)
I've been wanting to do the same thing - meet with an architect to try and figure a way to make our house the house that we really want. Is it at all possible to take it in stages? Do a new thing that you love each year?

It's lovely! And the funny thing is that I have been visiting that website thinking "should I order? Maybe not. Well, maybe... I don't know." You are pushing me ever closer to a purchase, lol!

Home "improvements" can be so overwhelmingly expensive. We were finally able to redo our kitchen after 25 years of orange counter tops and old appliances. There are still things that I'd love to do, it just won't happen now. Perhaps you can do somethings in small increments.
Love that little spindle. She's a beauty.

A real moose antler? That's cool! I know how slow it can be to turn your house into a home. Hubby and I have such grand plans and such a small pocketbook for our house. :)

Such a warm, creamy look to your spindle!
I'm sorry about the house plans. What about doing the subcontracting yourself? It still ends up being LOTS of money, but maybe you can get the part of your dream you can afford? I know when I did my kitchen and bathroom, the bids went from $15K to $80K. The $15K people were liars, :-), but they did a good job for a fraction of the cost.

A beautiful spindle and I love the color of the fiber.
I would wonder out loud if you could do just part of the house, except that I know from experience that once you start remodeling, it gets a momentum of itself and keeps on going.
