Monday Morning Meanderings
Going around in circles, or life with a teenager.
We were travelling to Shannon's gymnastics meet on Saturday when out of the back seat Fiona piped up:
Fee: Mommy, remember last weekend when I got that bruise by bumping into something.
Me: Uh, no. Seems to me that you bumped into several things.
Fee: You know, the closet in the back.
Me: What about the closet in the back?
Fee: When the box thing fell?
Me: Can you be more specific? I am not exactly following your train of thought.
Fee: When that thing fell and you got mad at me.
Me: The sewing box? I wasn't mad about that.
Fee: Well, I didn't do it, it just fell.
Me: I was saying, that I wasn't mad that it fell. I was mad that it fell and you walked away leaving everything all over the floor for me to clean up.
Fee: What is the difference?

I think that this photo sums things up.

Deep breaths. I think that's how you cope with a conversation like that. There are no teenagers in my house (but I've taught plenty) and yesterday was so challenging around here. Sick travelling spouse, lost luggage, and a big accident on a dog bed. Very messy. Yuck. I took a lot of deep breaths...

Oh, yes....you win some, you lose some and some are ties! Or, how to meet yourself coming and going and get totally lost in the process.
