Bitten Again

One would think that I would have learned my lesson with my Autumn Leaves cardigan (I still don't have the replacement needle damnit, and it is all my fault for not getting it ordered yet). I started the Mr. Greenjeans sweater from Knitty, casting on with my size 8 needles, getting the body done, trying it on and discovering that yet again I have been bitten because I DID NOT SWATCH. As a result I yet again was creating something that would have fit my 10 year old.

I am nothing if not consistant. I am quite sure that the Gremlins of Gauge are totally messing with my head.

Don't let the Gremlins get you!!!!

Deep breaths. knitting is fun, right? Sorry to hear about the gauge gremlins. I am convinced that swatching is a good idea...and I can't wait to see your Mr. Greenjeans, since I've thought I might make one, too!

Oh, OUCH. So Sorry. I actually swatch now. Most of the time. Can you believe that? I never thought I would be that cautious.

I think there must be a whole lexicon of Getting the Gauge.
May I humbly suggest:
the ghouls of gauge
a ghost of gauge
a guess of gauge (my fave)
and the very rare, but welcomed, "Oh, Goody, I got gauge!"

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ack!

Gremlims of gauge...hah! That explains a lot!

So sorry to hear that. . . I too am guilty of not gauging, however, I have decided it must be of infinite worth since those who are great knitter do it. Good luck with the new sweater.
