Monday Morning Meanderings
One of my pet peeves is knots in a ball of yarn. If the knot is in the center of the ball or skein, I can almost understand it, but seriously who needs a knot with a mere two yards to go before the end?

Depending on the time of day we leave my folks house today the above hat may or may not get finished for 2007. Not becaise I have loads more to knit on the darn thing, but I forgot the second ball of yarn at home. Somehow or another, one of the tires on the van developed a slow leak, so Dennis is off trying to get it fixed before we leave this morning, and I suspect that we will be getting on the road for the trip back to Seattle much later than we intended.
I love coming home to my parent's house. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world to me. Granted, I haven't been all around the world to base that statement as fact, but to me it is home and full of memories and a kind of raw beauty that you don't find in to many urban areas.

Papa took that picture shortly before the holidays. He says that there were actually 5 stags in the back yard, but he was only able to capture 3 of them on the camera. I have been hoping that they would make an appearance this weekend, but so far no such luck. We did have a spat of unusually wild weather yesterday that included sun, rain, hail, snow and a rather loud thunderstorm. Simply incredible.

As long as I have been taking a trip down memory lane, I took the liberty of taking a picture of one of the photographs of me as a child. I think that I was about three in the above picture. My parents have a series of the three of us children above the bed in their room. I love these old photgraphs done in black and white. I regret not having the funds to have similar portraits done of my children at that age, but I really treasure this one.
It is the last day of 2007. Where ever this evening finds you, Happy New Year and safe travels to all.

Elvis & Pearl got to chase the deer in the woods next door *again* this morning. I believe that's their favorite thing to do.

I agree with you on finding knots, I don't care for them wherever they might be...
That's their back yard?!? I love it! It's waaaay beyond fantastic!
Cute old black and white, what a happy girl!

How wonderful that you can go back home, and to such a beautiful place. You were adorable and I loved seeing the picture of the Weebugs. What a lovely family you are.
Happiest of New Years to you and your whole family. Peace, health and joy!

It seems like about half of the last several balls of yarn I have used have had knots just a few yards in from the end. Drives me nuts.
That photo is cute! Looks so much like Shannon! Isn't it weird how deer can be? I am just a mile from downtown 98055 and we routinely have deer lolling around the neighborhood. They even know that the cars will wait for them to mosey on out of the road, so many of them tend to take their sweet time.
Happy New year to you all. I still have your Christmas present to give you. And guess what? I am SICK AGAIN! So is Nathan and Kass started running a fever today. It never ends... ;-)

What a beautiful backyard, it looks a special place. I don't think we need to travel the world or even our country to think our own backyards (so to speak) are the most beautiful. I would love it to snow here at Christmas, but living on the east coast it just isn't going to happen. A 4 hour drive in winter will get us to the snow fields though. A lovely picture of your family, I am a bit like you, couldn't afford to get the boys professional photos when small, well #1 son got one but #2 son didn't, we just use a really nice photo taken about the same age, but in this house I haven't hung one photo of anyone.

Happy New Year to you and yours, heres hoping 2008 brings you all you wish for.
Your parents backyard looks amazing, the wildlife!! Having moved to the country we have to deal with womabats, kagaroos echidna's and rabbits digging holes in our garden! Those stags though, beautiful!
Now to think of it, I also haven't hung any photo's up in this new house either...
