Ker-Thud.

I had a vague hope of having at least two of the elephants done by Sunday. Plans just got changed. The family Christmas party is now Saturday. I haven't a prayer.

Since this photo was snapped, the pink elephant is now complete, albiet sans eyes. I have two more to be knitted up, both of the requests are for blue. If I sacrifice the green one that I made for somebody else to give to my nephew (who is 7 months old and won't care), I may possibly get a blue one done by tomorrow. If I don't sleep.

Obviously getting a batch of apple butter done between now and then is out of the question. Or is it? I do have an apple peeler/corer. I might be able to justify not being able to step on the floor afterwords by putting the children to work. You might ask what happened to the batch I started this fall. Did you know that when you attempt to make apple butter in a cast iron pot, that with the addition of the vinegar your apple butter turns a dark, murky gray? Neither did I. It was disgusting.

Clearly, I have lost my marbles.

wheeee, dangling by his toes.....

about that second item of posting... 'ewwwww'.....
good luck!

LOL, you will make it. You are superwoman, remember? Our family thing is on Sunday. You working Monday too? I won't be on-site though. Are the stars gonna line up someday so that we can hang out eventually?

oh my goodness... you're not knitting while driving, are you??? cling to the last shreds of sanity! (wink). you can always use this old trick: just put the almost-finished elephant into a nicely-wrapped box, and then promise to finish it by new years... good luck with all the craziness!

Life in the fast lane!!!!
I am hoping to sleep tonight without making lists in my head as I lie there in panic.
Have you ever tried apple butter in a crockpot?
Have a wonderful Christmas. It WILL work out.
Best to you.

Join the club. I have three socks and a pair of slippers to go before Christmas morning!!

Ah the "joys" of the Holidays that impose on ourselves. Good Luck! I love the elephants.

oh my....you are working too hard! Just what is apple butter?

Ahh, chemical reactions. Cast Iron, even seasoned cast iron, will react with acidic foods. Tomato sauce, vinegar, wine, etc. So, you got yourself a very useful chemical reaction there. Not really tasty, and probably a little more iron than even an anemic person might need, huh?! It happens to the best of us!! Remember to take deep breaths, stop for cups of tea, and don't worry about it too much. The 7 month old (especially the 7 month old) will be just as happy with a gift on New Year's. The day itself? focus on the meaning part. The presents are just secondary. Books are a good gift. Buy some books?!

At least you are still trying, heh! Superwoman!

Oh man, you are adding to your own stress! The elephants are adorable, but will be just as well received at birthday parties throughout the year. Go buy some prezzies and focus on the joy of the season - the moments you spend together with your family.
