kimono sweater

The baby kimono sweater is done. Since it wasn't raining I felt that it deserved an outdoor shot. The finished product took about 1 and 3/4th of a skein of Koigu sock yarn.

In true Weebug Knits fashion I did not entirely follow the pattern. About the time I was picking up the stitches for the last sleeve, I realized that I had more than the number of stitches that I needed. I turned it into a design element however and added a bit more neckline on the left side of the sweater.

Tying things so that they stay does not seem to be one of my better traits. So instead of adding ribbon for the ties on the sweater as the pattern called for I picked up some stitches and created little button tabs instead.

Oh, very very cute, Marti! Gee, I have knit many hundred of sweaters for other people's grandchildren and now that I am going to have one, do you think that I have made ONE thing? Sigh. This is one lucky baby. What a great gift. :o)

Lucky little girl! I love the button tabs idea, too.

Tres chic, Marti! This little girl is going to start out being a fiber snob! I bet she cries every time her mom dresses her in ackrylic. The button tabs are really cute, and probably much safer than ribbon, as long as you sewed those buttons on really well and remind mom to check them, every time she puts the sweater on. Paranoid parent, who me?

the baby kimono is SO cute! what size needles did you use? about 2 skeins of koigu for what size baby sweater?

Oh my! That is one cute baby sweater. I love the color! great work!!!

That little kimono turned out so sweet! Make sure you let the child know that it's made of Koigu, therefore it's a "no spit" zone!

I'll second the button comment--make sure they're sewn on extremely tight. Sorry, that's the pediatrician in me coming out...

What a lucky baby! Gorgeous sweater.
