Finally Done!

032707.jpg

I finally finished them. These are my Socks That Rock Monsoon Inside Out Socks. How's that for a name? They are a bit hard to get up over the ankles, but I like them. I knit the feet on size 00 DPNs, and the cuff on size 1 16" circulars. (Please try to ignore the puky greeness of the basement carpet in the background. Although, it all kind of matches. Hmmm.)

One thing I am really irritated beyond belief about is that NOBODY makes circular needles in 1.75 mm. And why the hell not? I hate knitting on 7" long steel needles just because I don't knit as tight as everyone else. I am thinking I just may end up using my 000s for socks from now on. It would make a nice, thick fabric, but that is a lot of stitches to put into a sock. Eh, I guess I will just have to experiment.

Anyway, here is a detail of the socks, left side the "right" way out, and the left side is the alternate "inside out" way. Once you get to the cuff, these socks really fly. I did 3 pattern repeats on the cuff and I ended up with 25 grams of yarn left over. I think I prefer the left sock. They seem to hug my feet better when I have this side out.

I haven't been doing a lot of blog updating lately because life has sort of been going to hell for me. Not too bad, but I just haven't had enough time for the fun stuff for me. Kids have been sick, I have had migraines and work sucks (as usual). I need to make more time for me. I have been thinking a lot about quitting my job again. I think it was a complete mistake to go back there. I should have known that the crap would start up again. I don't need the money that bad. It isn't worth the headache.

I need to get to bed now. I am a sleepy girl

Your socks turned out lovely! I wish they made needles at 2.75 mm, as well as the 00's.

Me, too, needle-wise. I love how your socks turned out, especially the oil on water effect of the foot part (doesn't sound particularly attractive, I admit, but I do love the way it looks).

Those are awesome socks!!! But the 00 sized needles are making me cringe. Now, of course, my gauge on those would be something like 14 sts per inch. Twice yours I imagine!

I hope things pick up for you. I know what it's like to have a job that drives you crazy. Sometimes it's better to do without, and actually have a better life.
